Messaging Fans

Direct messages are where most creator-fan revenue happens after the initial subscription. Here's how to use them.

Opening a DM

  • From a fan's profile: tap Message.
  • From your inbox: tap Compose → search for the fan.
  • From a tip or comment: tap the fan's name → Message.

DMs are 1-on-1 by default. You can attach vault content, send PPV unlocks, or just send a text message.

What you can send

| Type | Description | |---|---| | Text | Plain message, up to 2,000 characters | | Vault content | Photos, video, audio from your vault | | PPV unlock | Locked content the fan pays a one-time price to view | | Voice note | Audio message recorded in-app | | Tip menu link | Link a fan back to your profile's tip options |

PPV in DMs

PPV unlocks in DMs are one of the highest-margin revenue paths on Fansit. The flow:

  1. Compose a DM to a specific fan.
  2. Tap AttachPPV unlock.
  3. Pick the content from your vault.
  4. Set the unlock price.
  5. Send.

The fan receives a blurred preview and an Unlock button. When they pay, you earn the FanBucks immediately (subject to the 10-day pending balance).

Auto-welcome messages

The single highest-leverage DM is the one fans get the moment they subscribe. Set up an automated welcome message that goes out automatically — it adds 10–20% to PPV revenue for most creators. See Automated Welcome Messages.

Mass messages

To send the same message to all subscribers, use Mass Message instead of DMing each fan individually. See Sending a Mass Message.

Inbox management

Your inbox can fill up fast. Strategies:

  • Pin VIP threads so they stay at the top.
  • Use lists to segment fans (top spenders, new subs) and reply by priority.
  • Set expectations in your bio: "DMs read daily, not always replied to."
  • Use templates for common responses (saved replies in Settings → Templates).

Voice notes

Voice notes feel more personal and convert better in DMs than text. Record them in-app:

  1. Open the DM.
  2. Hold the microphone button.
  3. Release to send.

Max length: 5 minutes per voice note.

What you shouldn't send

  • Off-platform contact info (Snapchat, WhatsApp, etc.) — violates Acceptable Use.
  • Off-platform payment requests (Cash App, PayPal). Same.
  • Pressure tactics ("Pay me 5,000 FB or I'll remove your access.") — extortion is grounds for immediate ban.
  • Content of other fans without their consent.

Public-by-default

Treat every DM as potentially public. Fans can screenshot. Don't share anything you wouldn't want public. The Acceptable Use Policy prohibits fans from redistributing your DM content without consent — but enforcement happens after the fact.
