My Card Was Declined — What Do I Do?
There are about a dozen reasons a card can be declined. Here are the common ones, in order of likelihood, with the fix for each.
1. Insufficient funds or over-limit
The most common reason. Your card balance, daily spend cap, or monthly limit doesn't cover the purchase.
Fix: check your balance, try a smaller FanBucks package, or use a different card.
2. Your bank flagged the transaction
Most banks have automated fraud-prevention systems that flag adult-content transactions, international transactions, or any unusual purchase.
Fix: call the number on the back of your card. Ask the bank to authorize the transaction with PERSONA PAYMENTS. Banks resolve this in a few minutes.
3. 3D Secure / additional verification step missed
Many cards require a one-time password or app confirmation for new merchants. If you closed the verification window or didn't approve in time, the charge fails.
Fix: try the purchase again. When the verification screen comes up, complete it within the time limit (usually 5 minutes).
4. Expired card
The expiration date passed.
Fix: add the new card from Settings → Payment Methods. Remove the expired card.
5. Wrong card details
A typo in card number, expiration, CVV, or billing zip.
Fix: re-enter the details exactly as they appear on the card.
6. Card not approved for international or online use
Some debit cards (especially prepaid and certain regional cards) are restricted to in-person use only.
Fix: use a different card, or call your bank to enable online/international transactions.
7. Currency conversion issue (international cards)
If your card is issued outside the U.S., your bank may decline based on the currency conversion or country code.
Fix: see Using an International Card on Fansit.
8. Daily spend limit hit
Even if you have funds, your bank may have a daily transaction or amount cap.
Fix: wait until tomorrow, raise your daily limit through your bank's app, or use a different card.
