Age Verification for Fans

If you live in a state or country that requires age verification for adult-content websites, you'll be asked to verify your age before viewing adult content on Fansit. This article covers when verification is required, what's accepted, and how the process works.

When you need to verify

Verification is required if you're located in a U.S. state or country that mandates age verification for adult-content websites. As of writing, that includes (but isn't limited to) the following U.S. states:

  • Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wyoming

This list updates regularly as new state laws take effect. If you're unsure, the verification screen will tell you whether your jurisdiction requires it.

What you'll need

  • A government-issued photo ID — driver's license, state ID card, or passport.
  • A device with a camera (phone, laptop, or tablet).
  • Good lighting.

How it works

Verification is handled by Incode, a third-party identity verification provider. Fansit does not see or store your ID document — Incode confirms your age and shares only a yes/no result with us, plus the metadata required for §2257 compliance.

The flow:

  1. We prompt you to verify when you try to view adult content from a regulated jurisdiction.
  2. You'll be redirected to Incode's flow inside the Fansit app.
  3. Take a photo of your ID — front and back. Good lighting, no glare, no fingers covering the document.
  4. Take a quick selfie so Incode can confirm the photo on the ID matches your face (a "liveness check").
  5. Wait a few seconds for the result.

If you're 18+, you'll be returned to Fansit and can view adult content immediately. The verification result is cached so you won't need to repeat it.

What we keep, and for how long

We keep:

  • A verification result (yes/no).
  • Verification metadata required by §2257 and similar recordkeeping laws.
  • The date of verification.

We do not keep your ID image after Incode completes the check.

Verification records are retained for the period required by applicable law (currently, the greater of 7 years or what the law specifies). See the Privacy Policy for full retention details.

What you don't have to verify

  • If you live somewhere that doesn't require AV, we won't ask.
  • If you only browse non-adult content (creator profiles, free posts, public timelines), no AV is required even from regulated jurisdictions — AV gates apply only to adult content.

Common issues

  • "ID rejected — try again." Usually a lighting or focus issue. Move into better light, hold the ID flat, and re-shoot.
  • "Selfie doesn't match the ID." Take the selfie in similar lighting to your ID photo. Remove sunglasses, hats that obscure your face, and heavy makeup if possible.
  • "ID expired." A current, in-date government ID is required. Renew or use a different valid document.
  • "This document isn't accepted in your jurisdiction." Some states require specific document types. Try a different ID.

For verification errors that won't go away, email support@fansit.com with a description of what's happening (don't attach your ID).
